The DBTAC: Mid Atlantic ADA Center is one of 10 regional Disability and Business Technical Assistance Centers (DBTACs) funded by the U.S. Department of Education, which provides information, resources, training, research, and technical assistance on the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and other related disability issues. The DBTAC is a program administered by TransCen, Inc.
Overview of Position:
The Training Manager is responsible for providing, coordinating, and promoting training on the Americans with Disabilities Act (and related federal legislation) throughout the Mid-Atlantic region (DE, DC, MD, PA, VA, WV). The incumbent will be an experienced trainer with a background in the ADA and disability issues. The position requires working with state coalitions to conduct outreach and develop training capability and technical knowledge among coalition staff. This is a full-time position located in Rockville, Maryland.
Duties and Responsibilities:
* Coordinate, design, develop and conduct trainings, panel discussions, and speaking engagements for audiences with a wide range of ADA knowledge and professional backgrounds.
* Coordinate outreach and marketing efforts to solicit and promote training opportunities to businesses, employers, hospitality industry, trade associations, state and local government agencies, consumer and disability groups, and other interested parties.
* Responsible for coalitions reporting, conference calls, budgets, and other support activities.
* Maintain current knowledge of all aspects of the ADA and related laws, including new regulations and interpretations released by regulatory agencies. Maintain and develop knowledge of other relevant disciplines and issues affecting implementation and enforcement of the ADA and related laws, such as human resources policies, civil rights or state/local government statutes, changes in federal disability programs, and other issues.
* Provide on an as-needed basis telephone technical assistance to callers.
Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
* 2-3 years of extensive training experience is required. Some instructional design experience is required.
* Strong training, presentation, interpersonal, and organizational skills
* Ability to handle multiple projects and to prioritize effectively.
* Ability to work as a team member as well as independently
* Excellent writing skills
* Proficiency in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint
* Ability and availability to travel within the Mid-Atlantic Region
