Open Position: Program Manager
Job Summary: The United States International Council on Disabilities (USICD) is looking for a full-time Program Manager in the Washington, DC area. USICD’s mission is to catalyze and help focus the energy, expertise and resources of the US disability community and the US government to optimize their impact on improving the lives and circumstances of people with disabilities worldwide, and to be an active member of the global disability rights movement. This position offers a unique opportunity to join a groundbreaking organization supporting the rights of people with disabilities in the US and abroad.
As a member of a small team and working under the direction of the Executive Director, the Program Manager will be responsible for managing the daily operation of a new initiative to provide disability rights and resources information via electronic communications to the international disability community. Managing the program will require internal agency task planning, external partner relations with both domestic and international colleagues, advisory committee support, program outreach, regular reporting to funding partners and other stakeholders, and evaluation of program performance.
Qualifications Summary: USICD seeks a manager with experience in cross-disability organizations and resources, and an awareness of international disability issues; proven knowledge of electronic communication, web publishing, and common office software programs; experience in project life-cycle planning; excellence in communication, scheduling and multitasking; experience leading small teams and fostering stakeholder and volunteer advisors’ participation; and ability to work collaboratively and to take direction. A commitment to the advancement of people with disabilities and knowledge of disability cultures in the United States and internationally are desirable. First-hand experience with disability preferred.
