MCC Faculty Position Announcement

Assistant Professor, Tenure-Track
Media Advocacy

The Department of Media, Culture, and Communication in the Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development at New York University seeks to fill a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin September 1, 2010.

We are seeking a scholar who researches the use of media and technology in social advocacy campaigns. Qualified candidates should have a PhD with research specialization in one or more of the following fields: public health, disability studies, and human rights. Preferred candidates will have a demonstrated interest in interdisciplinary scholarship and current philosophical and theoretical debates in relevant fields.

NYU’s dynamic Global Network University includes NYU Abu Dhabi and international programs and academic centers around the world. NYU Steinhardt faculty may be afforded the opportunity to work at these global study and research sites.

Responsibilities will include: an active agenda of research and publication; undergraduate and graduate teaching and advising; and department and university service. Applicants should send a cover letter discussing qualifications, a

Job Opening Disability Rights Fund

The Disability Rights Fund is seeking an Operations Manager. The Operations Manager position offers a unique opportunity to join a groundbreaking grantmaking initiative supporting the rights of persons with disabilities.

As a member of a small team, the Operations Manager will help shape the Fund as it matures and incorporates the best strategies in funding disability rights in the Global South and Eastern Europe/former Soviet Union. The main objective of the position is to support the Director and other Fund staff by managing day-to-day operations of the Fund, in conjunction with the DRF fiscal sponsoring agency, Tides Center. Candidate works in a fast-paced environment, is flexible, takes initiative, and is independent but team-oriented. Closing date for applications is 1 November 2009.

Second Annual Disability Rights Fellowship

In September 2009, Brown, Goldstein & Levy, LLP welcomed its first disability rights fellow. We are now accepting applications for next year's fellowship. The Fellowship offers a recent law-school graduate or judicial clerk (0-3 years out) with a disability the opportunity to participate in all phases of disability rights litigation at our firm in Baltimore, Maryland.
